Pause a moment and revisit the layout in your mind. It's a curving fairway to the right with a fortress of huge firs on your left. To the right of the fairway, there's a bunker that will stop any ball that's not on the fly. Slashing across the fairway, 120 yards from the green, there's a ball-hogging creek called 'The Burn'.
Now that you have the layout indelibly inscribed in your mind, let's do it! For the long hitter, a fade shot over the fairway bunker will put you in excellent position for your approach shot. For the less powerful, a well-placed drive to the left of the bunker will leave you with a second shot within reach of the tiered green. Once on the green, however, you'd better hope that the pin placement is favourable – because if it's not ... promise you won't swear?
